Description

Easy Texas Hash is a hearty one-pan dish featuring ground beef, vegetables, rice, and spices baked to perfection and topped with melted cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 green pepper, diced (about ¾ cup)
  • 2 cups canned tomatoes with juice (16 ounces)
  • ½ cup uncooked long grain rice
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • ½ teaspoon salt, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, diced onion, and green pepper over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink and the vegetables begin to soften. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in canned tomatoes with their juice, uncooked rice, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil to trap steam for cooking the rice evenly.
  4. Preheat your oven to 375ºF (190ºC). Bake the covered skillet for 35 to 45 minutes until the rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  5. Fluff the rice gently with a fork. Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top if desired.
  6. Serve hot immediately. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
