Description
Easy Texas Hash is a hearty one-pan dish featuring ground beef, vegetables, rice, and spices baked to perfection and topped with melted cheddar cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 green pepper, diced (about ¾ cup)
- 2 cups canned tomatoes with juice (16 ounces)
- ½ cup uncooked long grain rice
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- ½ teaspoon salt, to taste
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, diced onion, and green pepper over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink and the vegetables begin to soften. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in canned tomatoes with their juice, uncooked rice, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil to trap steam for cooking the rice evenly.
- Preheat your oven to 375ºF (190ºC). Bake the covered skillet for 35 to 45 minutes until the rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
- Fluff the rice gently with a fork. Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top if desired.
- Serve hot immediately. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
