Best Sticky Pecan Cinnamon Buns to Brighten Your Day
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Whole milk (warms the yeast for perfect rising)
- 1/4 cup Granulated sugar (feeds the yeast for a light, fluffy texture)
- 2 teaspoons Active dry yeast (the key to achieving melt-in-your-mouth softness)
- 4 cups All-purpose flour (provides structure; measure correctly for best results)
- 1 large Large egg (adds richness and helps bind the dough)
- 1 teaspoon Salt (enhances flavor; essential ingredient)
- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (softened) (enriches the dough for unbeatable flavor and texture)
- 1 cup Pecan pieces and halves (toasted) (brings crunch and nutty flavor)
- 1/2 cup Maple syrup (complements the pecans perfectly)
- 1 cup Light brown sugar (firmly packed) (adds caramel flavor and moisture)
- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (softened) (ensures a gooey filling)
- 1/4 cup Milk (helps blend filling ingredients smoothly)
- 2 tablespoons Cinnamon (the star spice that brings warmth)
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt (balances sweetness)
- 1 cup Cream (adds an extra layer of moisture)
Instructions
- Warm the milk in the microwave until it reaches about 100-110°F. Combine it with the active dry yeast and sugar, whisk together, and let it rest until foamy.
- Add the flour, egg, salt, and softened butter to the bowl. Mix to form a sticky dough.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until soft and smooth.
- Transfer to an oiled bowl, cover with cling wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 60-90 minutes until doubled.
- Line a 9×13″ baking tray with parchment and brush with butter. Spread the toasted pecans across the bottom.
- Combine the pecan topping ingredients in a saucepan over medium-low heat until melted and smooth. Pour over the pecans and refrigerate for 15 minutes to set.
- Mix the filling ingredients in a bowl until smooth. Microwave if necessary for easy mixing.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll into a 12×16″ rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread the cinnamon filling over the dough to ensure packed flavor.
- Cut dough into 12 strips, roll each strip tightly, and place them in the baking tray on top of the pecan topping.
- Allow rolls to rest for 30 minutes in a warm spot until puffed.
- Preheat oven to 350°F during the last 20 minutes of rising.
- If desired, pour cream over the rolls just before baking.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and firm.
- Let the tray rest for 5 minutes, then flip onto a serving platter.
- Slice and serve warm with family and friends.
