Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 12–16 slices spicy pepperoni
- 1/4 cup pizza sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (for brushing)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut the dough into 10-12 rectangular pieces, approximately 4×3 inches each.
- In a small bowl, mix the red pepper flakes, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to create the spice blend. Set aside.
- Spread a small spoonful of pizza sauce onto the center of each dough rectangle.
- Layer 2-3 slices of spicy pepperoni over the sauce on each piece of dough.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the pepperoni.
- Dust each roll with the prepared spice blend for an extra kick.
- Carefully roll each piece of dough, starting from one of the short ends, enclosing the filling. Pinch the seams and ends tightly to prevent leakage.
- Place the rolled dough seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the additional 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder. Brush this mixture evenly over the top of each pizza roll.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let the spicy pepperoni pizza rolls cool for 3-5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving hot.
Notes
- For a tighter seal, slightly dampen your fingers when pinching the dough edges.
- Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the spice level according to your preference.
- Avoid overstuffing the rolls with cheese to prevent it from leaking out during baking.
- Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving as the filling will be very hot.
