Description

These spicy pepperoni pizza rolls are a flavor-packed appetizer perfect for any occasion. They offer a delightful combination of heat, melted cheese, and crispy dough, making them a crowd-pleasing homemade treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1216 slices spicy pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (for brushing)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut the dough into 10-12 rectangular pieces, approximately 4×3 inches each.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the red pepper flakes, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to create the spice blend. Set aside.
  4. Spread a small spoonful of pizza sauce onto the center of each dough rectangle.
  5. Layer 2-3 slices of spicy pepperoni over the sauce on each piece of dough.
  6. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the pepperoni.
  7. Dust each roll with the prepared spice blend for an extra kick.
  8. Carefully roll each piece of dough, starting from one of the short ends, enclosing the filling. Pinch the seams and ends tightly to prevent leakage.
  9. Place the rolled dough seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  10. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the additional 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder. Brush this mixture evenly over the top of each pizza roll.
  11. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and crispy.
  12. Remove from the oven and let the spicy pepperoni pizza rolls cool for 3-5 minutes.
  13. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving hot.

Notes

  • For a tighter seal, slightly dampen your fingers when pinching the dough edges.
  • Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the spice level according to your preference.
  • Avoid overstuffing the rolls with cheese to prevent it from leaking out during baking.
  • Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving as the filling will be very hot.
