- 1 cup maple syrup
- 2 sticks cinnamon
- 5 cardamom pods
- 2 star anise
- 1 inch fresh ginger, sliced
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 1 ounce lemon juice
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- 2 tablespoons spiced maple syrup
- 3 ounces champagne
Instructions
- In a medium pot over high heat, bring 1/2 cup water, maple syrup, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, star anise, and sliced ginger to a boil for about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in orange zest, and let cool. Strain into a glass jar.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 tablespoons of spiced maple syrup, bourbon, lemon juice, and a few dashes of orange bitters. Add ice, shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until chilled.
- Strain the mixture into a glass, filling it about two-thirds full. Top off with champagne.
- Garnish with an orange slice and a star anise if desired. Serve with a cinnamon stick for extra spice.
