Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Divide the batter into two equal parts. Add the red food coloring to one half of the batter and mix until well combined.
- Preheat your waffle iron and grease it if necessary. Scoop the plain and red velvet batters onto the iron in alternating spoonfuls.
- Cook the waffles for 4-5 minutes, or until they’re golden brown and crispy.
