Description

These irresistible Christmas chocolate peppermint truffles are a festive and decadent treat. They combine smooth, rich chocolate with a refreshing hint of peppermint, perfect for holiday gatherings or homemade gifts. Easy to make, they offer an elegant indulgence that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Peppermint extract
  • 1/4 cup Crushed peppermint candies
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup Dark chocolate or white chocolate melts

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream and butter over medium heat until just simmering, about 3–4 minutes.
  2. Place semi-sweet chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl, pour warm cream mixture over, let sit for 2 minutes, then stir gently until silky and smooth.
  3. Add peppermint extract to the chocolate ganache, stir until fully combined, then taste and adjust mint level.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm enough to scoop, typically 2 hours.
  5. Scoop about 1-inch portions of chilled ganache, then roll into smooth, round balls.
  6. Place cocoa powder, crushed peppermint, and melted chocolate in separate shallow bowls.
  7. Roll each ganache ball in your chosen coating until fully covered, shaking off excess.
  8. Transfer coated truffles to a parchment-lined tray, refrigerate for 30 minutes to set the coating.
  9. Optional: Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt atop each truffle before serving.

Notes

  • Store truffles in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • For best results, use high-quality chocolate.
  • Adjust peppermint extract to your preference.
  • Ensure ganache is well-chilled before shaping.
