Description

A delicious Egg Foo Young recipe featuring shrimp and pork, perfect for a quick dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 oz bean sprouts
  • 2 oz ground pork (substitutable with turkey or chicken)
  • 4 medium-sized shrimp (can use frozen shrimp)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Shaoxing wine (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 3 dashes white pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 3 tablespoons oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Start by cracking the three large eggs into a bowl. Use a fork to beat them until well combined, ensuring they’re light and frothy.
  2. Add the bean sprouts, ground pork, shrimp, and chopped scallion to the egg mixture. Stir well to combine everything thoroughly.
  3. Place a wok or large pan on high heat and pour in the oil. Allow the oil to heat up until it shimmers.
  4. Ladle some of the egg mixture into the pan, aiming for a diameter of about 4-5 inches.
  5. Using chopsticks, gently push the bean sprouts and other fillings to the center of the omelet. Let it cook for approximately 3 minutes.
  6. Carefully flip the omelet and fry until both sides are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Plate your warm omelets and serve immediately with steamed rice.

Notes

  • This recipe is versatile; you can substitute shrimp with other proteins.
  • Adjust the white pepper to your taste preference.
  • Serve with a side of steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
