Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ºF and grease and line an 8×8 pan with butter and parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter, chocolate, orange juice, and cocoa powder in a heatproof bowl set over boiling water, stirring until smooth.
  3. Cool the mixture slightly after removing from heat, allowing it to be warm but not hot.
  4. Mix in the granulated and brown sugars, whisking vigorously, then add the eggs and mix until incorporated.
  5. Combine the flour, salt, and zest into the bowl, stirring gently until no dry patches remain.
  6. Top the batter with thinly sliced oranges tossed in sugar.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes until the top is crackly and a toothpick comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool fully at room temperature for 30 minutes, then chill in the fridge for another 30.
