Description
These Caramel Chocolate Pretzel Rods combine salty crunch with sweet, creamy caramel and rich chocolate, making a perfect homemade treat for gifting or indulging.
Ingredients
Scale
- 14 thick pretzel rods
- 40 soft caramels (e.g., Werther’s Original)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips or chocolate melting wafers
- Flaky sea salt (optional)
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat mat.
- Unwrap all 40 soft caramels and place them in a microwave-safe bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of heavy cream to the caramels. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well until melted and smooth.
- Dip a pretzel rod into the melted caramel, covering most of the rod and allowing excess to drip off. Place it on the prepared baking sheet.
- Let the caramel-coated pretzels set for 15-20 minutes or refrigerate for a firmer set.
- Melt 12 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips or wafers in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals until smooth.
- Dip each caramel-coated pretzel rod into the melted chocolate, fully covering the caramel layer. Shake off excess chocolate.
- While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle with flaky sea salt or desired toppings.
- Let the chocolate set at room temperature or refrigerate for 10-15 minutes until firm.
- Once firm, enjoy or package for gifting.
