Description

Baked Gruyère in Pastry with Rosemary and Garlic is a delightful blend of melted cheese and pastry that elevates any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 pound gruyere or fontina
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 12 cloves garlic
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • coarse sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  2. Prepare the puff pastry by laying it flat in a parchment-lined 10-12 inch baking dish or pie plate. Center the cubed cheese in the pastry.
  3. Mix the rosemary and grated garlic together. Sprinkle this blend over the cheese and drizzle the honey on top.
  4. Fold the corners of the pastry over the cheese mound. Brush the pastry with the beaten egg and sprinkle lightly with coarse sugar.
  5. Bake the tart for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is deep golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
  6. Serve with extra honey, freshly cracked black pepper, and your favorite crackers or slices of crusty bread.

Notes

  • Thaw the puff pastry completely for easy handling.
  • Mixing gruyere and fontina enhances the flavor and creaminess.
