- 1 cup Unsalted Butter
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 large Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 8 ounces Almond Paste
- 1/2 cup Sliced Almonds
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper and lightly greasing it.
- Beat together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, almond extract, and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
- Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Press half of the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
- Crumble almond paste evenly over the surface of the dough.
- Top with the remaining dough, gently pressing it over the almond paste layer.
- Sprinkle sliced almonds on top of the dough, pressing them in gently.
- Bake for 25-28 minutes until edges are golden brown and the center is set.
- Let them cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- Dust with powdered sugar before slicing and serving.
