Description
One Pot Creamy Tomato Basil Tortellini is a comforting, rich meal that combines cheesy tortellini with a silky tomato sauce in just one pot.
Ingredients
Scale
- 9 ounces cheese tortellini (Choose fresh or frozen)
- 1 can canned crushed tomatoes (Use high-quality tomatoes)
- ½ cup heavy cream (Adds creaminess)
- 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 2 cloves garlic (Minced)
- ½ cup fresh basil leaves (Chopped)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (For sautéing)
- to taste salt and black pepper (For seasoning)
- to taste grated Parmesan cheese
- to taste red pepper flakes (Optional)
Instructions
- Warm olive oil in a large pot over medium heat until shimmering. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant and lightly golden, about 1 minute.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes and vegetable broth, stirring to combine. Increase heat to bring mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally for about 3 minutes.
- Stir in heavy cream until the sauce turns pale pink and silky. Reduce heat to low and let it gently bubble for 2 minutes.
- Add cheese tortellini, pushing them beneath the sauce. Cover and simmer on medium-low for 5–7 minutes, stirring halfway until pasta is al dente and sauce has thickened.
- Remove pot from heat and gently stir in fresh basil leaves. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Divide tortellini among bowls, top with grated Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes if desired, and serve immediately.
