Description

This recipe delivers incredibly juicy baked teriyaki chicken drumsticks with a sticky, sweet-savory glaze. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or casual gathering, it’s easy to make and full of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 pieces Chicken drumsticks
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (fresh, grated)
  • 2 tablespoons Rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (toasted, optional garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped green onions (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a medium bowl until smooth.
  2. Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels and season them with salt and black pepper.
  3. Place the drumsticks in a resealable bag or shallow dish, pour the teriyaki marinade over them, seal, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight for deeper flavor.
  4. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or place a wire rack on the baking sheet.
  5. Arrange the marinated drumsticks in a single layer on the prepared rack or baking sheet, reserving any leftover marinade for basting.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, basting the drumsticks with the reserved glaze every 10 minutes. Continue baking until the skin is deeply caramelized and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Remove the drumsticks from the oven and let them rest on a clean plate for 5 minutes.
  8. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired, and serve the juicy baked teriyaki chicken warm.

Notes

  • For a brighter flavor, add a squeeze of fresh lime juice before serving.
  • Ensure chicken is patted dry before marinating for better glaze adherence and crispier skin.
  • Baking on a wire rack promotes even cooking and caramelization.
